BirthWaves is a non-profit organization that provides doula services to families who experience pregnancy and infant losses. We are not doctors, nurses, or counselors. However, we are a trained and certified agency of doulas that specializes in offering bereavement support to families of babies and small children.
We offer pregnancy, birth, and postpartum doula services to families who face the loss of a baby anywhere from conception through 12 months old. To do this, our doulas are available 24/7 and can assist a family with any aspect of losing a child. This includes help during miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, fatal diagnosis, or infant death from any cause. BirthWaves also provides unconditional and non-judgmental support to all of the families that we serve.
We provide our services free to all families without regard to income, race, religion, marital status or any other pre-qualifying factor.
BirthWaves does not have a physical office and relies on private funding and the availability of our doulas. Our services are available in Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas City Metro, North Carolina, Oregon, Columbia SC, Tennessee, and Texas. However, if you are requiring immediate support and are outside of those areas, please call us. We will do what we can to assist you.
The doulas of BirthWaves are available 24/7 by phone. You can contact us if you have just received news that your baby is incompatible with life. Or if you are experiencing the early signs of miscarriage. We are also available if you are having to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy. We start when you need us.
In the United States, 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. Approximately 600,000 miscarriages a year. There are 25,000 stillbirths a year. Approximately 60 stillbirths per day. A mother gives birth to a stillborn baby every 20 minutes in the United States.
BirthWaves Provides families with doula services after the loss of their pregnancy or infant. Services are provided by unbiased, nonjudgmental, and caring individuals who are trained to offer bereavement support. BirthWaves does not discriminate based on race, religion, income or any other social or economic status.
The families that we serve pay absolutely nothing for our services. Extended family may donate in memory of a child, but it is not required. We rely on donations and generous gifts from the community to continue serving.
