Who are we?

BirthWaves is a non-profit organization that provides doula services to families who experience pregnancy and infant losses. We are not doctors, nurses or counselors. We are trained and certified agency of doulas who are specialized in offering bereavement support to families of babies and small children.

Meet the team here.

What do we do?

We offer pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula services to families who face the loss of a baby anywhere from conception through 12 months old. Our doulas are available 24/7 and will assist a family with all of the many aspects of losing a child. We specialize in miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, fatal diagnosis and infant death from any cause. BirthWaves provides unconditional, non-judgmental support to all of the families that we serve.

Our services are provided free to all families without regard to income, race, religion, marital status or any other pre-qualifying factor.

Where do we serve?

BirthWaves does not have a physical office and relies on private funding and the availability of our doulas.  Our services are available in Kansas, Oregon and Texas.  If you are requiring immediate support and are outside of those areas, please call us and we will do what we can to assist you.

When do we start?

The doulas of BirthWaves are available 24/7 by phone. If you have just received news that your baby is incompatible with life, you are already experiencing the early signs of miscarriage, or you are having to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy, we can help.

Why are we doing this?

In the United States, 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage, with approximately 600,000 miscarriages a year. There are 25,000 stillbirths a year, which translates to 60 stillbirths per day.  A mother gives birth to a stillborn baby every 20 minutes in the United States.

Our Mission:

BirthWaves Provides families with doula services after the loss of their pregnancy or infant. Services will be provided by unbiased, nonjudgmental and caring individuals who are trained to offer bereavement support. BirthWaves does not discriminate based on race, religion, income or any other social or economic status.

How is this made possible?

The families that we serve pay absolutely nothing for our services. Extended family may donate in memory of a child, but it is not required.  We rely on donations and generous gifts from the community to continue serving.
