Our History
The History and Legacy of BirthWaves
This site is strictly a baby name finder today. If the BirthWaves URL looks familiar from a few years ago, you have the right place. A completely different group owned it until 2026. We simply bought the domain to host our database, so the original doula network isn't active here anymore.
We didn't want to just erase the past, though. The folks who ran this place before took on incredibly heavy work. Sitting with parents through a miscarriage, a stillbirth, or infant loss takes a rare kind of person. To be completely upfront: we do not offer any of those support services. We are essentially just the developers behind a search tool. But that old crew gave families a quiet, safe spot to land when they really needed it. Moving forward without saying a quick thank-you just felt wrong to us.
So, our whole focus now is just names. It’s a very different project, but picking a baby name is still a huge step. We actually get a lot of visitors using our site to find the right fit for a rainbow baby. Seeing that happen is pretty special. We’re just glad this web address can still be a positive corner of the internet for growing families.
